The Agricultural Engineering Study Program at Hasanuddin University is a bachelor’s program designed to equip students with comprehensive knowledge and practical skills in agricultural engineering. The program emphasizes technology development, innovation, and the effective as well as sustainable management of agricultural resources to support modern and environmentally responsible agricultural systems.

Field of Study

  • Agricultural Machinery

This field focuses on the design, operation, and development of agricultural machinery and equipment such as tractors, pumps, planting tools, harvesters, and post-harvest machines. It aims to improve labor efficiency, productivity, and the level of mechanization across the entire agricultural production chain.

 

  • Soil and Water Engineering

This field focuses on maintaining soil quality and water availability through mechanical and vegetative conservation techniques. It covers erosion control, watershed management, small-scale water structures, irrigation and drainage systems, as well as the optimization of agricultural water use.

 

  • Post Harvest & Processing Techniques

This field studies post-harvest handling processes to extend shelf life, ensure safety, and increase value-added agricultural products. It includes techniques such as sorting, drying, milling, fermentation, storage, as well as food processing technologies for household to industrial scales.

 

  • Smart Farming & Control

This field focuses on the application of sensors, actuators, microcontrollers, control systems, and automation in cultivation and post-harvest processes. It includes agricultural IoT, temperature and humidity monitoring, automated irrigation, and the latest smart farming technologies.

 

  • Agroinformatics

This field integrates information technology with agriculture. It covers agricultural databases, computer modeling, agricultural applications, GIS and remote sensing, machine learning for plant disease detection, as well as decision support systems for agricultural management.

  • Food Chemistry and Biochemistry

This field focuses on the analysis of the chemical composition, structure, and functional properties of food components, as well as the biochemical changes that occur during processing and storage.
