Ethical Guidelines for Peer Reviewers

Respobio Journal: Postharvest Technology and Food Biotechnology adheres to the ethical standards for peer review recommended by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). COPE has published Ethical Guidelines for Peer Reviewers that outline the fundamental principles and best practices expected from all reviewers during the peer-review process. In addition, peer reviewers of Respobio Journal are expected to:

  1. Accept reviews only within their expertise and only when they can provide a thorough assessment within the requested timeframe.

  2. Maintain confidentiality and not disclose any information about the manuscript or the review process during or after review, except as authorized by the journal.

  3. Not use confidential information obtained through peer review for personal advantage or to disadvantage others.

  4. Declare any conflicts of interest (financial, institutional, collaborative, or personal) and consult the journal when in doubt.

  5. Evaluate manuscripts fairly and without bias, regardless of the authors’ nationality, ethnicity, gender, religious or political beliefs, institutional affiliation, or commercial considerations.

  6. Provide objective, constructive, and respectful feedback, avoiding hostile language or personal criticism.

  7. Review in a timely manner and recognize that peer review is a reciprocal scholarly responsibility.

  8. Provide accurate professional information to the journal, reflecting their true expertise and qualifications.

  9. Avoid misconduct, including impersonation or any attempt to manipulate the peer-review process, which will be treated as serious ethical violations.
